Pool Wiring Process
Your electrician's part to play within your pool building journey

Preconstruction
Getting the job right starts with information. To best serve you and help your project be a success, we like to meet and walk the site before the ground is ever broken. This allows us to identify and assess your needs eliminating any potential surprises.
Equipotential Bonding
Keeping you and your loved ones safe in and around your pool is our highest priority. Your pool needs to be bonded, specifically the steel in the shell and the decking. This ensures that any potential differences in current are safely eliminated.

These will be noticeable as lines of copper that are attached to the rebar of your pool's shell. These bonds are both individually inspected by your local city inspectors.

Providing Power
Unless your builder has provided adequate 4-wire service to the pool equipment location, your electrician will have to install dedicated power. During the preconstruction phase, we identify the needs of your project and evaluate your home's ability to support the pool equipment.

During construction, we work closely with you and your pool contractor to ensure everything stays on schedule.
Equipment Wiring
Finally! the time has arrived to wire all your pumps, lights, automation controls, and anything that needs power needs to be connected. This phase of the electrical happens close to the end of your whole pool project, just before the final surfacing of the pool. This is when it all comes together: the bonding gets tied in, the equipment gets wired up, and the power turned on and tested.

Why Safewater Electric?
Overall, it is always a wise decision to hire a licensed electrician for any electrical work, especially when it comes to wiring pool equipment. Our expertise will help ensure a safe and compliant installation that will operate efficiently and effectively for years to come.
A licensed electrician is required for several reasons:
Safety
Pool equipment requires a significant amount of electrical power to function properly, and if not installed correctly, it can pose a serious safety risk. A licensed electrician has the knowledge and experience to ensure that all wiring is installed safely and up to code, reducing the risk of electrical shock or fire.
Compliance
Depending on your location, there may be specific codes and regulations that must be followed when installing electrical equipment near a pool. A licensed electrician will be familiar with these regulations and can ensure that your installation is compliant.
Liability
If someone is injured or property is damaged as a result of faulty wiring, you may be held liable. By hiring a licensed electrician, you can protect yourself and your property from potential legal and financial consequences.
Warranty
If your pool equipment is still under warranty, the manufacturer may require that a licensed electrician perform the installation. Failure to comply with this requirement could void the warranty, leaving you responsible for any repairs or replacements.
